This client's "Dream Home" was located on the water near Jansen Beach — just over the Interstate Bridge in Portland, Oregon, ten minutes north of downtown. Taupe-colored walls, hydrangea-toned Forbo Marmoleum floors, with textured plush amethyst carpeting create their own "neutral" background. Themes of these colors with white, soft yellow, and green were pulled throughout the house creating a unified experience allowing the accents to pulse. Mahogany furnishings, many "found objects" and art compliment this beautiful residence.
Exciting and surprising materials were used in this custom home: steel, etched art glass and raku becoming highlights. Note the fireplace mantel here and in the small detail shot (middle left) — raku orbs have a light source within that allowed a shaft of light to glow behind the spheres and down the vertical channels below them. Bottom left is a shot of the dining room, taken from the family room on the second floor. This shows the curve to the staircase walls and traditional mahogany furnishings.
